DHPC
DHPC
Direct Healthcare Professional Communication (DHPC) is an intervention aimed at delivering crucial information directly to individual healthcare professionals, either by a marketing authorization holder or a competent authority. The purpose is to alert healthcare professionals about necessary actions or practice adjustments related to a medicinal product.
DHPCs are utilized to communicate significant details such as the suspension, withdrawal, or revocation of a marketing authorization due to safety concerns, notable changes like restricted indications, new contraindications, altered recommended doses, medicine supply shortages, and quality issues with medicine. DHPCs crafted at the EU level incorporate a communication plan outlining the intended recipients and the scheduled dissemination date.
It’s important to note that DHPCs are not responses to inquiries from healthcare professionals, nor are they intended as educational materials for routine risk minimization activities.
