Vaccine Pharmacovigilance

Vaccine Pharmacovigilance

Vaccine Pharmacovigilance encompasses the scientific field and associated activities that revolve around the detection, assessment, comprehension, and communication of adverse events following immunization and other issues related to vaccines and immunization. Its primary goal is to prevent any adverse effects resulting from vaccines or immunization. In this context, “immunization” refers to the use of vaccines to immunize individuals, often referred to as “vaccination” in the European Union. The scope of vaccine pharmacovigilance includes all processes occurring after a vaccine product has been manufactured and packaged, such as its handling, prescribing, and administration, with the aim of ensuring the safety and effectiveness of immunization programs.
